I'm an Edmonton-based choral conductor, adjudicator, and arts administrator. I believe in building community through music.

My young adult choir is part of the Kokopelli Choir Association here in Edmonton. With 60-70 members in a typical season, the choir is known for its musical sensitivity, warm free sound, creative programming, and palpable sense of connection with each other and with the audience.

My adult choir is also in the Kokopelli Choir Association family. Founded in 2013, this group takes a slower pace on the choral journey but aims for moving, polished performances of challenging repertoire from a wide range of sources.

I love to travel and work with other singers across our country. In addition to working as an adjudicator, guest conductor, and clinician, I work behind the scenes as an arts administrator for the Kokopelli Choir Association. As an administrator, my focus is on generating systems and policies that support the growth and unbounded potential of all our members.

for the love of singing

Founded in 2002, Òran (pronounced oh-RAHN) began as an alumni offshoot of Edmonton's Kokopelli Youth Choir, but it has since developed into a group made up of young adults from all over Edmonton and the surrounding area. Each brings a different viewpoint to the group, but all are united in their passion for singing. The choir stresses the same philosophical goals as its younger counterpart, striving to achieve musical excellence and artistic integrity, as well as combining new interpretive techniques with more traditional choral expertise. Above all, the group is dedicated to sharing joy in song with each other, with other choirs, and with audiences around Edmonton and across Canada.

Òran was featured at the 2005 Festival 500 in St. John’s Newfoundland, and more recently, participated in the Laval International Choral Festival in Quebec in July 2009, as well as a cultural tour to Cuba in May 2011.  Members of Òran travelled to Europe for a tour in July 2012 including stops in France, Germany, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.  In May 2014 season Òran was delighted to perform as an invited ensemble in Halifax at Podium 2014, the biannual conference of Choral Canada. This was an experience Òran had the honour of repeating in St. John’s at Podium 2018. A frequent collaborator with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, this season includes an appearance in a Rodgers & Hammerstein program in June 2019.

Lifelong learning

Vacilando is in its sixth season in 2018-2019. The word ‘vacilando’ is Spanish, and refers to taking enjoyment out of the journey rather than focusing on the destination.  As such, the choir takes a more casual approach to music-making, with fewer performances throughout the season than Òran, our young adult choir.  The group still places an emphasis on all the things that make Kokopelli Choirs’ music-making unique, however: community, multiculturalism, choral excellence, and multifaceted performances.
